Postdoctoral Researcher in AI-Driven Confluent Networking

Project Overview
The role involves developing advanced control and orchestration methods for confluent networking. The primary objectives are to enhance capacity, energy efficiency, and latency by implementing AI-driven control of new physical layer solutions within the ECO-eNET project. This will involve efficient provisioning using both existing and new controllers for wired, wireless, and computing systems, as well as an AI-enabled orchestration layer. AI-driven service and network orchestration will utilize network sensing technology to gather environmental data, support applications, and optimize networks. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with our national and international network of researchers from academia and industry.
About the Division and Department
The division focuses on research areas such as network automation, control and management, fiber access and mobile transport networks, network sustainability, reliability, security, and survivability, and converged fiber-wireless networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently formulate research questions and develop strategies to solve them within the scope of your project.
- Develop new AI/ML approaches for optimizing the confluent network design and operation and integrate them into proof-of-concept demonstrators.
- Collaborate with other forward-thinking team members and external researchers from academia and industry.
- Communicate the results of your research (verbally and in writing) in high-impact journals and conferences.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, you must hold a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication, or similar awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers). Exceptions from the 3-year limit can be made for longer periods resulting from parental leave, sick leave, or military service.
Other qualifications for the position include:
- Proficiency in applying AI/ML methods to the management and operation of communication infrastructures, including monitoring and service provisioning.
- Experience in building and executing experimental demonstrations and proofs of concepts.
- Ability and motivation to carry-on high-quality research.
- Strong track record demonstrated by publications in Q1 journals and top-tier international conferences.
- Outstanding programming skills.
- Excellent communication skills in oral and written English.
Contract Terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
