Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Level Designer to join our team in creating engaging and challenging puzzle games.

As a key member of our game development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing levels that meet the highest standards of quality and player satisfaction.

  • Design and implement levels that are balanced, fun, and engaging for players.
  • Work closely with the game development team to ensure that levels align with the overall game design and vision.
  • Collaborate with other designers, artists, and developers to create a cohesive and immersive gaming experience.
  • Develop and maintain level design best practices and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across the team.
  • Identify and address potential issues and risks in level design, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive 'Best in Market' level design for a key puzzle title at King.
  • Maintain the highest possible levels of level design quality, while respecting technical limitations and performance targets.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize data and user feedback as part of the iterative process of improvement to your level designs.
  • Establish level design best practice guidelines and workflows.
  • Create task breakdowns to assist with scheduling.
  • Track and report key issues and risks to production and project management departments.
  • Develop pipelines and processes to allow efficient and effective delivery of game environments, both for launch and as the game grows as a service.
  • Stay up to date with industry techniques, standards, and workflows, aware of current & upcoming game titles & technology.
  • Set the standard for the team in terms of level creation, quality assessment, and best practices as you create, assess, balance, and tune new and existing levels.
  • Support your team in continuously improving workflow and process efficiency.
  • Be the go-to expert for any questions around level design, content cadence, balancing strategy, and what actions are needed to ensure that the game is competitive in a rapidly changing industry.
