About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Powertrain Strategic Development team at Volvo Group. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of innovative hydrogen-based propulsion solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement cutting-edge engine control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement model-based control systems for hydrogen fuel cell systems
  • Collaborate with global experts to establish close relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Design and implement efficient embedded control software for new H2 ICE powertrain solutions
  • Take a holistic approach to create calibratable functions for complex spark-ignited engines with upcoming technology
  • Verify new software functionalities to match new requirements, systems, sensors, and actuators
Requirements
  • Scientific degree in an engineering area such as Mechatronics, Computer Science, Automation, Electronics, Mechanics, or Applied Physics
  • At least 8+ years of experience in developing model-based control systems
  • At least 4+ years of experience with industrial powertrain product development
  • Expertise in embedded software design & architecture, functional safety and testing, SIL or HIL, test bench data analysis and automation as calibrator or function developer, control theory and signal processing, diagnostics and dependability, or drivability
  • Proficiency in Matlab / Simulink / Targetlink, C/C++, and Python3
  • Knowledge in automotive communication protocols, such as Ethernet, ISO, CAN, LIN
  • Experience with CANAlyser, ATI Vision, ETAS INCA, ETAS ASCMO, or AVL Concerto
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge in spark ignited engines, knock control, engine sensors and actuators
  • Experience in combustion engines, fuel injection systems and EATS systems
  • Knowledge in design and implementation of safe and secure functions, ISO-26262 and SAE-21434-compliant
  • Result-oriented with a 'think-outside-of-the-box-attitude'
  • Keen perception with a good portion of quality understanding
  • Self-driven; thinks in solutions and has the energy to make things happen
