Sustainable Food Systems Leader

The Professor in Food Science and Food Technology will be responsible for leading research initiatives, developing teaching programs, and collaborating with colleagues to advance academic excellence. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's reputation as a leader in food science research and education.
The Department of Molecular Sciences boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including NMR spectroscopy, advanced mass spectrometry, and confocal microscopy. Our faculty members are dedicated to advancing knowledge in food science, microbiology, natural product chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry, biophysics, and more.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead research initiatives focused on sustainable food systems, food safety, and nutrition.
- Design and deliver high-quality teaching programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, incorporating scientific rigor and real-world applications.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen interdisciplinary research and education.
- Pursue external funding opportunities to support research and development projects.
- Contribute to departmental, faculty, and university strategic planning, ensuring alignment with SLU's mission and goals.
- PhD degree in a relevant field, along with associate professor (docent) qualifications or equivalent.
- Established expertise in food science, food technology, or a related field, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, grants, and industry collaborations.
- Proven ability to lead research teams, secure funding, and develop effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.
