Position: Exterior Lighting Studio Design Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Exterior Lighting Studio Design Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg, Sweden. As a key member of our design studio, you will be responsible for translating engineering requirements into design possibilities and collaborating with our engineering team to ensure seamless communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Translate engineering requirements into design possibilities.
  2. Transfer and describe engineering and key legislative requirements to design.
  3. Generate feasible solutions for technically challenging areas.
  4. Manage and document agreements between design and engineering.
  5. Communicate design intents and needs within engineering.
  6. Understand and implement technical input and limitations in the design models.
  7. Document feasibility of design themes and raise critical issues.
  8. Arbitrate, drive, and document agreements between engineering and design.
  9. Set up new light concepts in Catia and optical software.
  10. Secure up-to-date competence in continuity, i.e., benchmark all competitors.
  11. Tech scout and arrange presentations/workshops with innovation companies and suppliers within the lighting field.
  12. Stay updated on existing manufacturing methods and technologies.

Requirements:

  1. Deep knowledge of lamp technology, engineering, and legal requirements.
  2. Automotive product concept and component design experience on exterior lighting.
  3. Preferably optical software experience (SPEOS, Lucidshape, Light tools).
  4. Complete understanding of the vehicle development process.
  5. Good Catia and Teamcenter experience.
  6. Technical university or equivalent, +10 years solid working experience in the automotive industry required.
  7. Extensive automotive lamp concept engineering experience with an appreciation for aesthetic challenges.
  8. Experience working in a design studio is merited.
  9. Understanding of engineering and validation processes for vehicle components and systems.
  10. Working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements, and lead times.

  4. Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  5. Ability to travel to China on occasion, must confirm no issues obtaining a travel visa from the Chinese Visa Application Centre.
  6. Fluency in English required, Mandarin merited.

Work Environment: The assignment includes travel and will be performed in a studio in Sweden.
