About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineer Expert to be part of our Platform Engineering team, focusing on building and maintaining a scalable and secure GCP environment.

This role emphasizes hands-on work with GCP infrastructure and services, designing and optimizing cloud architecture for cost-effectiveness and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Optimize GCP Infrastructure: Develop and maintain a resilient and scalable GCP environment, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Provide GCP Expertise and Leadership: Serve as the team's GCP authority, guiding effective use of GCP services and promoting best practices.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain IaC solutions using tools like Terraform, ensuring consistency and repeatability in cloud infrastructure deployments.
  • Establish Monitoring and Reliability Standards: Create robust monitoring and alerting practices using tools like Stackdriver or Prometheus, ensuring prompt detection and resolution of issues.
  • Optimize Cloud Costs and Resource Usage: Continuously evaluate and apply strategies to enhance resource utilization on GCP, minimizing waste and costs.
  • Enable Self-Service and Automation: Develop self-service tools and automated workflows that empower product teams to manage their own resources independently, improving agility and efficiency.
  • Champion SRE and Reliability Best Practices: Promote Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles within the team, ensuring high-quality and reliable cloud infrastructure.
  • Support Deployment and Operational Workflows: Ensure that GCP infrastructure aligns with deployment and operational requirements, streamlining processes and reducing downtime.
Requirements
  • Deep GCP Knowledge: Proven expertise in architecting, implementing, and managing GCP infrastructure, with a strong understanding of cloud security and compliance.
  • Infrastructure Automation Proficiency: Skilled in IaC using tools like Terraform, with experience in developing and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure deployments.
  • Monitoring and Observability Experience: Strong background in using tools for maintaining system health and visibility, with a focus on proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Proficient in containerization and orchestration to support efficient scaling and resource usage, with knowledge of microservices architectures and cloud-native development.
  • Scripting and Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash, with experience in automating tasks and workflows in cloud environments.
  • Performance Optimization Abilities: Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving performance issues within cloud infrastructure, with a focus on cost-effective solutions.
  • Incident Management Experience: Familiarity with incident response practices and a proactive approach to minimizing service interruptions, ensuring high availability and uptime.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Cost Management and Optimization on GCP: Experience implementing strategies to control cloud costs, with a focus on budget planning and forecasting.
  • CI/CD Workflow Knowledge: Familiarity with CI/CD practices, including automation, testing, and deployment.
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Principles: Knowledge of SRE best practices, including error budgets, MTTR, and capacity planning.
  • Cloud-Native Development Insights: Understanding of microservices architectures and best practices for building and scaling applications in a cloud-native environment, with experience in containerization and orchestration.
