About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of our Propulsion Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing our systems from stage 0-3 over the next two years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop propulsion systems through EDF stages 0-3
  • Develop tools, processes, and technologies to support system engineering practices
  • Deliver the primary propulsion package to the programme, including raft mounted diesel engine & motor generator unit transmission, diesel exhaust system, shaftline, and external thrusters
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering team to develop motor generator
  • Ensure compliance with DNV regulations

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with diesel/electric engines in surface ships (defence and/or commercial)
  • Knowledge of DNV classification and safety standards
  • Strong mechanical engineering background and understanding of requirements and processes
  • Degree level education in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
