About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team at the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS), the Swedish EMBL node, hosted at the Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University.

Research Focus

The successful candidate will work on understanding the genetic and molecular interactions between Plasmodium parasites and their mosquito vectors, with a focus on the biology of the ookinete and oocyst stages. This research aims to identify new targets for interventions to prevent malaria transmission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to investigate parasite-vector interactions using rodent models and genome-scale approaches.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify key molecular interactions and their impact on transmission success.
  • Contribute to the development of new research projects and collaborations within the team and with international partners.
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences and publish in top-tier scientific journals.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, parasitology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in experimental genetic methods and a proven track record of successful research.
  • Experience with rodent models and genome-scale approaches is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
