We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor in Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology to join our team at Karlstad University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in genetics and genome biology, with a focus on conifers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead research projects in forest genetics and plant physiology, with a focus on genetic biodiversity and environmental adaptation.
- Collaborate with researchers within the department and SLU, as well as national and international partners.
- Initiate and develop their own research group, with a focus on conifer genetics and genome biology.
- Plan, lead, and implement research projects, and apply for external research funding.
- Conduct research-based teaching at all levels of the educational cycle.
- Disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.
- Participate in postgraduate education as a co-supervisor.
- PhD or equivalent academic qualifications in genetics, genome biology, or a related field.
- Strong background in conifer genetics and genome biology.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop an independent line of research within the subject area.
- Good ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
The assessment criteria for appointment as an Assistant Professor will primarily be based on the degree to which the applicant possesses the required qualifications specified for the position.
The assessment will primarily be based on qualitative indicators of the applicant's scientific skill within the subject area of the position.
Furthermore, the assessment includes evaluating the applicant's ability to develop an independent line of research within the subject area, and to qualify for promotion to senior lecturer during the employment period.
