Job DescriptionThis PhD position is available in the Department of Media and Communication Studies at Örebro University.
The successful candidate will work on a project focused on crisis management, conducting research on how first responders and emergency healthcare professionals approach, collaborate, and communicate regarding hostile threats involving dangerous substances.
Key questions to be addressed include how such crisis management actors perceive and communicate about topics that often provoke significant public concern, how first responders handle voluntary aspects of certain emergency operations, and dilemmas arising when balancing personal safety with societal security.
The selected candidate will be expected to conduct a literature review, design a quantitative study, and participate in the dissemination of research results through scholarly articles.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be eligible for this position, applicants must have a Master's degree in media and communication studies or a related field.
Applicants should also have excellent academic writing skills, a strong background in research methodology, and proficiency in statistical analysis software.
Able candidates will have experience working with qualitative data and methods, as well as a demonstrated interest in strategic communication and crisis management.
Prior experience in research projects and collaborations with industry partners is highly valued.
