About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Specialist to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as excellent troubleshooting skills.

In this position, you will be responsible for monitoring alarms and systems that manage power, cooling, and fire suppression in the data center. You will also coordinate vendor work on-site to ensure equipment is maintained and uptime is preserved.

You will support other teams and sites during events and planned works, handle rack installations and powering up equipment, and monitor and facilitate the handover of new equipment. Additionally, you will share knowledge and support new team members, participate in event response drills, and foster a strong safety culture within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
  • Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's)
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
  • Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 1 to 4 years of knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory; generic mechanical room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls; backup generator systems
  • Valid EU driving license
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline + Professional Certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Controls engineering.
  • Experience in operations of critical facilities (Heavy Industry or Data Centers) which require in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems and Data Center engineering experience
