Job Description:- As a Senior Counsel, you will collaborate with affiliate, regional, and OC legal & compliance teams and business colleagues in the Nordic markets (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) to provide high-quality, business-centric legal analysis, advice, representation, negotiation, and documentation.
- You will ensure that our Smoke-Free Future vision aligns with relevant laws and regulations and company positions. You will also support the Senior Counsel in implementing departmental practices and objectives in the Nordic markets.
You will work closely with other Swedish Match Nordics departments to achieve business goals, prioritizing consumer needs and compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Represent the Legal team, providing timely, accurate, and business-oriented legal analysis (advising, negotiating, and providing legal documents) in various areas, including competition law, marketing, sales, employment issues, regulatory matters, commercial and corporate law, contract drafting, intellectual property, digital and data protection, and more.
- Offer comprehensive legal support on all matters listed above for one or more Nordic markets, working closely with local management as a trusted business partner within all product categories commercialized from time to time.
- Share knowledge and best practices with fellow Legal team members on commercial initiatives, proposals, legal and regulatory developments, and common interests.
- Take initiative to ensure optimal legal support for business clients and certain global or regional project teams, utilizing both internal expertise and outside counsel services when required.
- Assist the Senior Counsel Nordics in developing and implementing departmental plans and objectives to support business initiatives.
- Review global or regional business proposals, marketing toolkits, etc., for consistency with local laws, company policies.
- Support global packaging, product compliance, and marketing on all requirements and approvals to ensure the timely local deployment or launch of new products.
- Stay current and knowledgeable about current and pending legislation, case law, and administrative regulations related to all subject matters relevant to the business.
- Evaluate external counsel performance effectively in accordance with agreed budgets, ensuring timely delivery of work products aligned with expectations.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams with other business members, ensuring decisions and recommendations protect the company's legal interests and execute decisions to achieve objectives on a timely basis.
- Provide training on legal issues to employees of Swedish Match Nordics as needed, including compliance topics like anti-bribery and competition law.
- Handle commercial disputes and regulatory investigations efficiently and effectively to secure the best outcome for the company.
- Maintain objectivity while promoting compliance with the letter and spirit of the law and company policies.
- Highlight the ability to prioritize consumer needs and offer valuable advice to support business objectives.
- Counsel and advise with short-term and long-term views and risk awareness.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle workload and set priorities according to business needs.
