About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Expert for Sanctions Advisory and Risk Management to join our team at Nordea. As a key member of our Group Financial Crime Prevention function, you will play a critical role in helping us identify and manage sanctions risks across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sanctions Risk Management: Support the identification and implementation of industry best practice methodologies for risk assessments, issues management, and controls mapping and testing.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist with risk management activities, including regulatory interactions and reporting, key controls mapping and testing, and Group Internal Audit (GIA) inspections.
  • Sanctions Expertise: Articulate and identify risks through assessments, used to identify and remediate potential gaps in Nordea's sanctions defenses.
  • Operational Tools and Procedures: Translate regulations and internal policies into operational tools and procedures.
  • Communication and Presentation: Present complex ideas, operational impacts, controls, and policy considerations to various audiences.
  • Subject-Matter Expertise: Serve as a sanctions subject-matter expert for various parts of Nordea's business.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in managing sanctions risks in a highly regulated environment.
  • Sanctions Regulations: Deep understanding and fluency in sanctions regulations, especially US, EU, and UK sanctions regulations.
  • International Environment: Track record of working in a fast-paced, complex, and international environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work with ambiguity, problem solve, and structure the unstructured.
  • Communication: Strong English language communication skills, including comfort and command presenting to audiences of varying size and seniority.
