Energy Transition Risk Engineer

At AXA XL, we're committed to helping our clients navigate the complexities of the energy transition. As an Energy Transition Risk Engineer, you'll play a critical role in executing our risk consulting strategy for energy transition, optimizing value-added support to our risk carrier and risk consulting services to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise underwriters on industry-specific risks and support clients in implementing their carbon emission reduction strategy to drive AXA's contribution to a decarbonized economy.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to support the broad energy portfolio of AXA XL.
  • Meet with underwriters, brokers, and clients of the energy industry to discuss specific risk consulting solutions, helping clients improve their risks while working towards a reduction of their carbon emissions.
  • Visit client sites to evaluate location and industry-specific risks and report findings in a structured way back to underwriting and the client.
  • Work closely with AXA XL's Energy Engineers and Underwriters across the globe, providing insights into industry trends, emerging issues, and technical information pertinent to transitioning to a decarbonized economy.
  • Help the underwriting team enhance their risk knowledge, select profitable clients, and reduce losses.
  • Work in compliance with our technical rules and guidelines.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues interested in learning about energy transition.
  • Support the local claims team in understanding losses and providing in-depth industry knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field such as chemical engineering, process engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in the energy industry, with a focus on renewable technologies, carbon capture, or similar.
  • Interest in the energy transition and willingness to learn about new and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with projects and technologies involving hydrogen, biofuels, carbon capture storage, and usage is beneficial.
  • Ability to work autonomously, be curious, and a highly motivated self-starter with good relationship skills and a great team player.
  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus.
