We are seeking a highly skilled Retinal Regeneration Scientist to join our team at Karolinska Institutet. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work on developing an efficient method for the regeneration of photoreceptors from pluripotent stem cells. This involves advanced cellular and molecular techniques, such as gene editing and microscopy.
About the Project:
The goal of this project is to create functional photoreceptors for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration. You will work closely with our team to develop and optimize the method, ensuring its safety and efficacy for human use.
Your Responsibilities:
* Develop and optimize protocols for the regeneration of photoreceptors from pluripotent stem cells
* Conduct gene editing and microscopy to assess photoreceptor development and functionality
* Collaborate with our team to test produced photoreceptors in animal models
* Contribute to the refinement of the method to make it clinically compatible
Requirements:
* PhD or foreign degree equivalent to a Swedish PhD
* Experience in retinal regenerative medicine and photoreceptor development
* Strong background in molecular biology and cellular techniques
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills
