Enhance Acoustic Echo Cancellation for Automotive Environments

Aptiv is seeking two final-year Master's students to collaborate on a six-month thesis project focused on developing an efficient Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) system using Frequency Domain Adaptive Filters (FDAF) for automotive environments.

Objectives:
  • Develop an FDAF-based AEC algorithm optimized for automotive environments
  • Integrate the algorithm into Aptiv's SoundCube DSP framework
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the AEC system
  • Benchmark the algorithm against existing solutions
Methodology:

The project will involve a combination of embedded software development in C and signal processing algorithm development in Matlab or Python. The students will work on the following tasks:

  • Research and design an FDAF-based AEC algorithm
  • Implement the algorithm in C for seamless integration into the SoundCube framework
  • Define a comprehensive set of KPIs to measure the efficacy of the AEC system
  • Employ Matlab or Python to conduct extensive performance testing and benchmarking
Expected Results:

Upon successful completion of this thesis project, we anticipate the following outcomes:

  • The development of an FDAF-based AEC algorithm capable of effectively addressing challenges associated with automotive communications systems
  • Integration of the algorithm into Aptiv's SoundCube DSP framework, making it accessible for practical communication systems
  • A set of well-defined KPIs and benchmarking results to assess the performance of the FDAF-based AEC system
