Process Automation Expert

Stegra is a leading company in the steel industry, dedicated to producing green steel with zero CO2 emissions. We are seeking a skilled Process Automation Expert to join our team in Boden, Sweden.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation, drives, and medium-voltage equipment. Proven ability to support and optimize automation processes in a heavy industrial environment will be essential to ensuring smooth plant operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hardware, systems, and networks essential to production automation
  • Troubleshoot and solve issues related to PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMI
  • Analyze production data to identify performance bottlenecks and ensure accurate data collection and storage
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for automation systems and monitor system performance
  • Ensure that automation systems meet safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to foster a safety-focused, efficient environment, supporting both plant-wide automation reliability and troubleshooting needs

Key Requirements:

  • Experience from the steel industry or similar
  • Experience with PLC programming (Siemens preferred), data acquisition/analysis, and HMI programming
  • Experience with variable frequency drives, medium-voltage drives, and motor control systems
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage power distribution systems and fault identification
  • Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed with a hands-on approach
  • Open-mindedness and a willingness to learn
