We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our pharmaceutical and analytical development team at Orexo.

Nasal deposition of spray dried nasal powder formulations using Alberta Idealized Nasal Inlet

The project focuses on developing a robust procedure for analyzing the nasal deposition of nasal powders using the Alberta Idealized Nasal Inlet (AINI). This involves determining the main parameters that affect regional nasal deposition.

Aerodynamic particle size distribution (APSD) plays a crucial role in characterizing how particles travel in an airstream. For both orally inhaled and nasal drug products, it is essential to determine the APSD to predict where in the respiratory tract the particles will deposit.

An idealized nasal inlet, the AINI, has been developed to mimic in vivo deposition of nasal formulations in the nose and throat. This allows for the development of safe and effective pharmaceuticals without the use of laboratory animals.

The aim of this project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the nasal deposition process and to identify key factors that influence regional deposition.

About the Role

This master thesis project (30 credits) is suitable for pharmacy or engineering students with a strong interest in pharmaceutical and analytical development.

Basic written Swedish is required, while fluency in English (reading/writing) is desirable.
