We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at The Goddard School of Hanover, MD. The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on profiling the evolutionary adaptation of Zymoseptoria tritici to control measures and changing temperatures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comparative analyses of genomic and transcriptomic characters, pathogenicity, and fungicide resistance among field populations of Zymoseptoria tritici.
- Integrate evolutionary knowledge into mathematical models to project future Septoria epidemics and optimize mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with domestic and international research groups to advance the understanding of Zymoseptoria tritici's adaptation to crop resistance and temperature changes.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate students in research projects related to fungal biology, molecular plant pathology, and evolutionary biology.
- Doctorate degree within the last five years in a relevant field, such as fungal biology, molecular plant pathology, or evolutionary biology.
- Documented experience in working with microorganisms, omics (e.g., genomics and transcriptomics), and ecology.
- Proficiency in English for effective communication and presentation of research.
- Strong background in statistical packages, evolution, ecology, field research, and molecular science.
- Preferred publications in reputable international journals.
- Experience with project initiation and management is an advantage.
- Good teamwork, independence, strong work ethic, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic research environment, collaborate with a team of experts, and contribute to the advancement of our understanding of Zymoseptoria tritici's adaptation to control measures and changing temperatures.
