As a Site Laboratory Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of mechanical testing within our steel production environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations. You will also oversee laboratory operations, prioritize test samples, and ensure efficient workflow.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality regulations within the laboratory, including proper handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  2. Mechanical Testing: Perform and oversee mechanical testing on samples, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures. Accurately record and analyze test data, proactively identifying and addressing inconsistencies or non-conformities.
  3. Operational Coordination: Lead operational coordination in the lab, ensuring effective workflow and prioritization of test samples. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize lab processes and sample turnaround times.
  4. Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to team members on testing procedures and equipment usage. Support training initiatives for lab personnel in best practices for mechanical testing and equipment handling.

Qualifications:

In this role, you must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. You are detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues are essential. Additionally, you should have:

  • Extensive experience in a mechanical testing laboratory, materials testing, or industrial laboratory environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of steel industry standards and procedures related to laboratory testing.
  • Experience in coordinating laboratory operations or acting as a key technical point of contact.
  • Advanced familiarity with testing equipment, data recording, and calibration procedures.
  • Proficiency in digital maintenance tools and laboratory management systems.
