Fibromyalgia Research:

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread pain and fatigue, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. Despite its prevalence, the underlying mechanisms of fibromyalgia pain remain poorly understood, presenting a critical challenge for effective treatments.

Project Aims:

The PhD student joining our team will investigate pain mechanisms in fibromyalgia, with a specific focus on the muscle pathophysiology associated with fibromyalgia-related pain. The project aims to explore whether immune cells and antibodies contribute to muscle pain and, if so, to elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

METHODS:

This research will involve analyzing human samples, employing advanced imaging techniques, and utilizing in vivo models alongside a range of cellular and molecular methods. You will collaborate closely with preclinical and clinical researchers, as well as biostatisticians, to enhance our understanding of pain from a translational perspective.

  • A comprehensive thesis detailing your research findings

Timeline:

The doctoral student will be employed for a maximum of 4 years full-time, with regular progress meetings and evaluations to ensure timely completion of the project.
