About the Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will play a key role in executing our risk consulting strategy for energy transition, focusing on optimizing value added support to our clients, risk knowledge, risk selection, and loss reduction.

As an Energy Transition Risk Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our Risk Consulting Energy Transition Leader and Global Head of Energy to develop our global energy strategy, positioning us as a leader in offering clients and brokers products and services across key elements of the energy unit.

Key responsibilities include advising Underwriters on industry-specific risks, supporting Clients in implementing their carbon emission reduction strategy, and delivering outstanding risk consulting services to underwriters and clients.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  1. Advising Underwriters on industry-specific risks and supporting Clients in implementing their carbon emission reduction strategy.
  2. Participating in the engineering team supporting our broad energy portfolio and interacting with the Energy Industry to discuss specific risk consulting solutions.
  3. Evaluating location and industry-specific risks at client sites and reporting your findings in a structured way back to underwriting and the client.
  4. Working closely with AXA XL's Energy Engineers and Underwriters across the globe, providing insights into industry trends, emerging issues, and technical information pertinent to transitioning to a decarbonized economy.
  5. Enhancing the underwriting team's risk knowledge, selecting profitable clients, and reducing losses.
  6. Collaborating with our local claims team in better understanding losses we pay, leveraging your in-depth industry knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A degree in an engineering field such as chemical engineering, process engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in the Energy Industry, with some background in renewable technologies like wind, solar, hydrogen, bioenergy, Carbon Capture, or BESS, fossil fuel power generation, oil & gas industry, nuclear power generation, or similar risk consulting positions.
  • Interest in the energy transition and willingness to learn about new and emerging technologies.
  • Previous experience with projects involving Hydrogen, Biofuels, Carbon Capture Storage, and Usage would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with working autonomously, being curious, highly motivated, and self-starting, with good relationship skills and strong teamwork abilities.
  • Availability for travel when required.
  • Fluency in English; other languages are a plus.
