About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving organizational goals by empowering and engaging with technical experts in your team. Clear communication of expectations, initiatives, and objectives is key to success.

You will contribute to the evolution of solutions targeting the embedded domain within the Engineering division. We strive for better ways of working and advancing the solutions engineering model.

Collaboration with stakeholders across various domains, both technical and organizational, is crucial to achieving this goal. Your responsibilities will include coaching individual team members, delivering value to stakeholders, and contributing to company goals.

The Engineering division works together to develop products used in the development of embedded systems. Our solutions provide customers with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), debuggers, probes for hardware connectivity, compilers, linkers, static analysis tools, and state machine modeling tools.

Additionally, we offer security solutions to protect our customers' intellectual property throughout the product lifecycle.

Following a restructuring of the Engineering department, three new Engineering Manager positions have become available at IAR Systems. The qualifications required for these roles are similar, as the overall responsibility of an Engineering Manager remains consistent regardless of the team led.

Each team has between 10-15 members and will primarily work from our Uppsala office. Team focus areas differ due to varying product domains.

Product Owners collaborate with successful candidates to lead team work.

Debugger Devices, Probes, and LMS Team

This team develops and maintains debugger technology on desktop for customer developers and probe support. They add hardware device support in the debugger to enable seamless and efficient connection to the right hardware.

The team works with VHDL design and software that runs on hardware probes and PCs. They also maintain our license management system, which encompasses Windows and Linux-based solutions, as well as a cloud service.

Technologies used include C and C++ in embedded and PC environments, using modern technologies to create high-quality and scalable solutions.

Product Governance Team

This international team, based in Sweden and Cambridge, is responsible for strategic functions within system architecture, product ownership, project management, and product documentation.

They play a central role in supporting the entire Engineering organization by delivering system-level expertise and interacting with stakeholders across and beyond Engineering.

When applying for this role, experience from project management or work as a product owner is more important than technical aspects of embedded components and PC software development.

Team members work on developing and maintaining system architecture for our solutions, creating product documentation, and providing system-level leadership for Engineering.

Products and solutions developed use technologies such as C, C++, Python, Java, C#, assembler, VHDL, MFC, and Qt.

IDE Team

The IDE team develops and maintains IAR's Embedded Workbench, plugins for VSCode, and Eclipse.

These tools are used by customers to edit, build, debug, and analyze embedded applications.

The team focuses on creating a user-friendly platform with features like code editing, language support, and source-code-project management.

They also maintain VisualState product.

Technologies used include C++, Qt, MFC, Java, and Typescript to deliver a stable user experience facilitating the development process.
