One of the biggest challenges within healthcare globally is reducing injuries that occur during care. Medical education and training are key, especially as a large part of the training can now be performed outside the operating room. Surgical Science is a world leader in the development of virtual reality simulators for evidence-based training. The simulators enable surgeons and other medical specialists to train and improve their psychomotor skills and instrument handling before entering the clinical environment. Alongside proprietary products, Surgical Science works with simulation solutions for medical device companies that develop instruments for clinical use, such as robotic surgery.

The headquarters are in Gothenburg, with additional offices in Stockholm, Tel Aviv, Cleveland, Seattle, and Shenzhen. The virtual reality simulators are used by medical training centers and institutes worldwide for practice, validation, and certification of students, surgeons, and medical doctors. Our products help save lives and drive positive patient outcomes every day across the world.

Position Overview

We are now looking for a VP of Marketing, someone who will lead our global marketing activities and drive strategic initiatives. This role involves managing a diverse, multinational team and overseeing all aspects of our global marketing operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern marketing practices, experience in implementing global strategies, and a background in the medical device industry or a similar field.

This position reports to EVP Product Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Global Marketing Strategy:

- Create and implement practical, results-focused global marketing plans that support the company’s goals.
- Oversee global marketing operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, adherence to budgets, and timely execution.
- Stay informed about the latest marketing trends, tools, and techniques, and ensure ways to use them effectively.
- Use data and analytics to track campaign success, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure strong returns on investment.
- Partner with internal stakeholders, including product and sales teams, as well as key customers and industry partners.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company.

Leadership And Team Management

- Lead, manage, support, and develop the global marketing team.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment of goals and work across teams.
- Build strong cross-cultural competencies and promote professional growth within the team.
- Implement performance metrics and track the success of marketing initiatives to inform continuous improvement.

This role includes global travel, approximately a few times a year.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA or equivalent is a strong advantage).
- 8+ years of leadership experience in global marketing roles, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry.
- Expertise in managing multinational teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrated success in utilizing up-to-date marketing tools, analytics, and techniques.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and achieve business objectives in a fast-paced, competitive environment.

Preferred Competencies

- Multilingual proficiency and/or international work experience.
- Familiarity with digital transformation in marketing and CRM platforms.
