Tasks and responsibilities

As Senior RF Design Engineer you are responsible for designing and modeling high-speed optoelectronic devices, validating and optimizing these designs through lab testing, and ensuring optimal performance in applications. The role involves troubleshooting, creating test methods, and contributing to technology selection, while also providing technical expertise in project reviews and supporting product adjustments during manufacturing. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, maintain documentation, and stay informed on industry advancements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design high-speed optoelectronic devices (e.g., electro-absorption and Mach-Zehnder modulators) and related packaging.
- Model RF characteristics to predict device behavior in real-world applications.
- Perform advanced characterization of devices in the lab to validate designs.
- Develop test methods for evaluating device performance.
- Aid in selecting suitable technology platforms and technical solutions.
- Take on the expert role in projects and contribute to drafting product specifications.
- Work closely with chip design, fabrication, and operations teams.
- Maintain documentation to support product development and improvements.

Education, experience and personal characteristics

- Strong background in RF and signal integrity, high-speed electronics, optoelectronic devices, and numerical modeling.
- Deep expertise in RF engineering, signal integrity, RF test and measurements, and device modeling.
- PhD with a minimum of 5 years, or MSc with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in RF/microwave, optoelectronics, semiconductor, or electrical engineering.
- Hands-on experience with RF / microwave test equipment and methodologies for on-wafer and on-chip testing.
- Fluent in English (oral and written); proficiency in Swedish is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to work in a structured manner. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a plus.
- Comfortable working in a cutting-edge RF / microwave test lab with strict cleanliness and ESD control requirements.
