Strategic Buyer

We need a Strategic Buyer to support our client within the Vehicle Operations category. This is a wide and diverse area that includes services such as logistics, vehicle compounds, repairs, inspections, roadside assistance, and related activities. Additional categories may also be included depending on needs. The client’s procurement organization is a compact team that works very closely with the business. Their scope is broad and varied, and they frequently handle matters outside standard category boundaries. In this senior role, you are expected to be highly hands-on and able to assist not only strategically, but also with tactical and operational purchasing tasks. Key activities The role includes, but is not limited to: - Maintain proactive dialogue with key stakeholders and analyze spend data to understand business demand and plan sourcing and negotiation efforts accordingly. - Lead sourcing initiatives and contract negotiations to deliver cost-saving targets, aligning with relevant functions such as business, legal, finance, etc. - Manage and follow up on contracts and suppliers, track performance, and reduce/mitigate risks. - Ensure procurement involvement and that sourcing, agreements, and purchase requests comply with internal policies, directives, and processes. - Prepare and present decision proposals and ensure proper documentation is stored for auditability and future reference. - Review incoming purchase requests to confirm they are correctly handled and meet requirements. - Define, document, and communicate category ways of working (e.g., buying guides, templates, routines) to improve efficiency and quality in sourcing and purchasing. - Contribute to the wider development and continuous improvement of the Procurement function, including tools, templates, and processes. Role requirements To succeed in this assignment, the candidate should have: - At least 3–5 years of experience in a similar buyer/procurement role. - Strong knowledge of relevant supplier markets and industry practices within the scope categories. - Solid experience reviewing and negotiating contracts; legal training and extensive negotiation history are required. - Advanced negotiation skills. - Proven ability to lead projects and present recommendations to senior management. - Excellent collaboration and communication capabilities. - Strong drive for results and a highly performance-oriented mindset. - Strong presentation, communication, and influencing skills. - Analytical problem-solving ability and a solution-focused approach. - Advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel. - Experience with SAP Fiori in procurement is an advantage.
