As a software engineer at Mentimeter, you will be an integral part of one of our cross-functional product teams, implementing designs and user experiences that will affect millions of people worldwide. You will collaborate with other engineers, a Product Manager, a Product Designer, and an Engineering Manager. We want you to engage with the team in product and design decisions and participate in discussions. This role is for someone who wants to do more than just write code for 8 hours daily.

We are recruiting for three teams:

1. One Product team in the Commercial Area, dedicated to creating intuitive, scalable identity management solutions, helping enterprises adopt our offerings with minimal support. We welcome engineers eager to learn, share knowledge, and draw on experience in security, AWS, or testing to enhance customer outcomes.

2. One Product team in the Core area, with a mission to build a great presentation experience for presenters and voters alike. They own and evolve features that enhance the live experience, while also focusing on quality, stability, and performance.

3. One Product team in the Commercial area, focusing on enabling both self-service and enterprise payments. This team works collaboratively at the intersection of engineering and business to ensure a smooth payment journey for our customers.

What you’ll do

As a senior software engineer, delivering value to our customers and users is essential. You will also scale and mentor junior engineers, helping them grow as developers and engineers driving the product forward. You should enjoy the entire product development chain, from breaking down designs into feasible work to writing and testing code and ensuring it efficiently gets to production.

Who you are

We believe you should have at least 8 years of related work experience as a software engineer and a good understanding of product development, ideally with a master’s degree in a relevant engineering field.

You are a reliable, high-performing individual contributor with a solid understanding of your area of specialization. You embrace change and short feedback loops.

We hope you bring a passion for software development, scalable architecture, and building great products. An interest in testing and automation is important, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with mob programming is valuable, and you should enjoy this collaborative approach.

Last but not least, you must have a curious mindset, be open to learning and sharing knowledge, and be interested in working with our tech stack.

The tech stack at Mentimeter consists of a frontend written in React (Next.js and Typescript) and a backend written in Ruby (not Rails), supported by technologies such as:

- Tailwind CSS

- Node.js

- Redis

- Cloudflare

- AWS

We require someone who knows React well but not necessarily Ruby. If you know Ruby, that’s great, but knowing another backend language well and being willing to learn Ruby is equally fine. It’s more important to us that you have the right attitude than the exact right skill set.
