Port Manager

Karlskrona Baltic Port (KBP) is a key logistics hub in the Baltic Sea region owned by Stena Line and the Municipality of Karlskrona. We offer cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable logistics services within port and terminal operations. Our customers primarily consist of shipping companies and freight forwarders. We are located in Verkö, Karlskrona, and our operations are divided into five different business areas: RORO, Intermodal, Bulk, Terminal, and Other. KBP owns the properties where the ferry operations in Verkö are conducted. In total, we have approximately 24 employees, and our operations are carried out under the Matric Terminals brand every day of the week.

About the Role

We are looking for a Port Manager & Managing Director to lead and develop Karlskrona Baltic Port. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management, strategic development, and operational efficiency of the port. You will ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements while driving business growth in line with the company’s long-term objectives. Additionally, you will build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders, including the board of directors, local authorities, and industry partners.

Operationally, you will oversee daily port activities, ensuring efficient freight handling, workforce planning, and infrastructure maintenance. You will also lead digital transformation initiatives to optimize operational workflows and improve overall efficiency.

As MD of KBP, you will report to the Board of Directors and collaborate with Stena Line’s Baltic Sea South (BSS) management team, ensuring that the port aligns with regional strategic goals.

Your Responsibilities

As Port Manager:

- Oversee daily port operations, ensuring efficiency and safety
- Provide leadership to the operational teams in line with the Stena Line framework
- Ensure compliance with maritime security, fire safety, and environmental regulations
- Develop and implement operational procedures and best practices
- Manage infrastructure, real estate, and equipment maintenance
- Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and inspections
- Lead workforce planning and performance management processes as well as facilitate employee learning

As Managing Director:

- Lead, develop, and manage the company in line with strategic objectives
- Provide regular updates to the board and Baltic South Sea management on financial and operational performance
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with industry stakeholders, local authorities, and commercial partners
- Ensure the company operates in accordance with regulatory, environmental, and HSSE requirements
- Oversee budget planning, investments, and financial performance
- Ensure the port holds the necessary permits and operates in compliance with environmental regulations

Your Profile

You are a proactive and strategic leader with a background in transport, logistics, warehouse or maritime operations. You have experience in managing operational teams and driving business growth while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken, together with a driver’s licence are musts for this role.

We are looking for an action and team oriented leader with high energy, strong communication skills and a down-to-earth approach. Other important personal characteristics for this role are structure, accountability and a strategic approach combined with an interest in operational matters. You have a strong drive for continuous improvement and the ability to inspire change.
