  • Ensures the smooth running of the Facilities/IT provision in the school
  • Full-time, 6 days per week, June to August
  • Shares emergency duty on a rota basis

CORE SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Confident with general maintenance and IT issues with a hands on approach
  • Previous experience of and/or training in Health and Safety

OBJECTIVES:

  • To ensure that all health and safety issues are treated as priority and criteria of accrediting bodies with regards to health and safety are met

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

FACILTIES

  • Ensures building is kept in premium condition by carrying out routine building checks and following up on issues.
  • Liaises with external maintenance contractors while onsite.
  • Maintains & replenishes supplies of maintenance stock
  • Decorating & paintwork as required.
  • Performs regular safety checks such as ensuring fire doors are closing properly, fire signs are in place, fire alarm & emergency lighting equipment is functioning, fire blankets & extinguishers are in place and not tampered with etc.
  • Performs regular risk assessments of buildings & grounds, notifying line manager of any concerns.
  • Acts as designated Fire Officer and ensures that staff receive appropriate fire alarm and awareness training.
  • Acts as Health & Safety Officer, ensuring that legal requirements and procedures are maintained, policies followed and appropriate staff have training and awareness as required.
  • Ensures all classrooms are adequately furnished, well presented and appropriate for learning needs
  • Ensures that living and leisure areas are adequately furnished, well presented and appropriate for required use
  • Manages list of maintenance issues, ensures repairs are promptly carried out and feedback given to staff reporting issues.
  • Monitors school courtyard and social areas during break-times
  • Ensures appropriate signage is in place and notice boards are organised & effective.
  • Deals with student enquiries & requests as required
  • Checks furnishings regularly for any adjustments or repairs required
  • Checks all light fittings & replace bulbs as required
  • Assembly and move furniture/other items around the site as required
  • Assists with unexpected cleaning if required when cleaners are off site
  • Other general maintenance / caretaker duties as required
  • Tours buildings regularly to ensure any Health and Safety issues are urgently addressed and the building is maintained to the highest possible standards.

TECHNOLOGY:

  • Troubleshoots routine software and hardware problems for staff and students.
  • Ensures wifi is working throughout the building at all times
  • Ensures excellent IT provision in the school, residence and other EF buildings, liaising with Global IT department where appropriate

GENERAL:

  • Able to open and close the school when needed.
  • Supports the team with maintenance and cleaning issues, including liaising with cleaners and contractors.
  • Takes pride in the look and feel of school and campus and helps to keep the buildings fit for purpose and customer friendly.
