A neurologist working in Sweden will diagnose, treat and manage patients with neurological diseases. Many neurologists in Sweden are involved in clinical research, clinical trials but also basic research.
Doctors specialised in neurology will treat and help patients affected by Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), back and neck pain, cognitive impairment, epilepsy, memory loss, migraine, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy (any disease of the nerves), Parkinson's disease, sleep disorders, stroke, etc. For diagnostic and treatment purposes, you will have access to Sweden's most sophisticated tests for diagnosing brain and nervous system problems, the latest medications, and participation in leading-edge medical trials, and you will work in close collaboration with skilled neurosurgeons, rehabilitation therapists, pain management specialists, nurses who are specially trained to care for patients with various neurological disorders, and other members of the staff. For this reason, the ability to work in a team and with a cross-disciplinary approach will be crucial.
