Head of Brand Design

Stockholms kommun, Stockholms län, Sverige Nordic Knots Heltid 1 kr - 2 kr Kontrakt

We are looking for a seasoned brand design leader to own and evolve the visual identity of Nordic Knots across every touchpoint, from store environments and packaging to editorial print, e-commerce and digital channels. This is a rare opportunity to shape the design language of a fast-growing premium interior brand at a critical moment in its development.

The Role

As Head of Brand Design, you will be the steward of how Nordic Knots looks and feels across the world. You will define, protect and evolve the brand’s visual identity and design system — setting the standard for how we express ourselves across physical and digital touchpoints, and ensuring that standard holds whether the work is produced in-house, by an agency or by a freelance specialist.

You will take ownership of how the brand design function should be structured as Nordic Knots continues to grow — assessing what capabilities we should build internally, where they should sit and when external expertise will create the strongest result. You will set priorities, bring in the right partners and resources, and work closely with the Chief Brand Officer and the creative team to translate the broader brand vision into enduring, elevated design.

This role requires both strong design authority and operational leadership — someone who can develop a long-term design system while also knowing how to get excellent work out the door today.

This role reports to the Chief Brand Officer.

Your Responsibilities

Brand design ownership

  • Own and continuously develop the Nordic Knots visual identity and design system — defining how the brand expresses itself across typography, colour, layout, imagery, iconography and all visual language
  • Ensure consistency and elevation across every touchpoint: packaging, retail environments, print, editorial, presentations, e-commerce and digital channels
  • Set and uphold quality standards across all design output, whether produced internally or externally

Strategy and design direction

  • Work closely with the Chief Brand Officer and the creative team to translate the broader brand direction into coherent, high-quality visual expression
  • Take a long-term view on how the design system needs to develop as the brand grows — anticipating new formats, new markets and new channels before they arrive
  • Bring a strong point of view on what good looks like within premium brand design, with a clear understanding of how design comes to life in retail and across the full customer experience

Function and resource leadership

  • Assess what design capabilities Nordic Knots needs and shape how the function should develop over time
  • Prioritise where internal capabilities will create long-term value and where specialist external expertise will produce the strongest result
  • Identify and bring in the right expertise for each challenge — from packaging and typography to retail environments and production
  • Brief and manage external partners with clarity, maintaining ownership of the brand design throughout the process

Production and systems

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of design templates, guidelines and production systems that allow the organisation to move efficiently without sacrificing quality
  • Build scalable processes that support the organisation as Nordic Knots continues to grow
  • Stay ahead of tools and emerging ways of working, including where AI can meaningfully support design production, efficiency or creative exploration

About You

You are a highly accomplished and senior brand designer who has held broad responsibility for design within a brand or organisation. You have spent years creating work that earns its place in the world and has built a reputation for clarity, craft and considered design. You know the difference between work that looks good and work that actually works, and you are as comfortable developing a design system for the long term as you are getting into the detail of a single layout.

You have led designers and shaped how design work is organised, prioritised and delivered. You understand what capabilities are important to have close to the brand, when specialist expertise is needed and how to build a strong network of internal and external resources around the work.

You work with conviction but without ego. You can build genuine partnerships with a Chief Brand Officer and a creative team, create clarity across different stakeholders and earn the trust of external agencies and specialists. You know how to hold a brief and how to push beyond one.

You have a broad understanding of brand design across formats — print, packaging, environmental, retail and digital — and a strong sense of how a premium brand should translate across each of th
