About the role
Juni is at an inflection point. We have spent our first four years building the foundations of a different type of business bank. One that makes finance easy and allows our customers to focus on doing what they do best - building their business. However, there was a trade off. What we gained in speed of delivery required a sacrifice in cohesiveness of our user experience. We now want to take a step back and stitch everything we have built together into one holistic, intuitive, and enjoyable user experience. This is where you come in.

We are looking for a Principal/Lead Product Designer to take charge of everything design at Juni. Someone who can build and lead a team of talented designers who thrive on delivering exciting work. Someone who can be a champion for the user, building experiences that work for them, even if they break the "norms". Someone who can lead multiple projects concurrently and collaborate with everyone from frontend engineers to legal. In short, someone capable of building a bold vision, get buy-in from the rest of the company, and deliver it.

Your responsibilities

  • Build and lead a talented, diverse, and inclusive team of designers who thrive on delivering exceptional work across a variety of design disciplines.
  • Shape and articulate a design vision that inspires and aligns teams across Juni, helping to shape and define priorities.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, data, legal & compliance, and more to deliver solutions that are impactful across markets and platforms.
  • Manage multiple projects and scale resources effectively, ensuring teams have clear, measurable goals and the support needed to achieve them.
  • Be endlessly curious, and bring the latest knowledge, insights, and trends of desktop, mobile, and other design disciplines into Juni.

Within 1 month, you'll:

  • Familiarise yourself with our existing design principles and design patterns.
  • Build relationships with team members across Product, Engineering, and others.
  • Conduct a UX audit to explore pain points and opportunity areas in the short, medium, and long term.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Create/revise design org structures and processes that equip your team to succeed.
  • Build on and expand the existing design vision for Juni, across Web and Mobile.
  • Be a champion for our users, with a deep understanding of their needs and pain points.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to start shaping priorities.

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Have a finalized design vision that we are starting to see in the live product.
  • Get the reformed design team fully up to speed and delivering polished designs that work with cross-platform flows.
  • Foster a thriving design culture where talent grows, creativity flourishes, and team members feel empowered to do their best work.

Qualifications

What we need to see

Product Design experience

  • 10 years of experience in product design, preferably within design led companies, with a portfolio of projects you can use to showcase your skills.
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing design teams and owning overarching design vision.
  • Strong execution and understanding of all the core design skills, including UX design, UI/visual design, Interaction design, UX copywriting, Information architecture.

General experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions convincingly.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A tuned product sense, ensuring you quickly understand who our users are, what problems they have, and use that to inform your designs.
  • In-depth experience collaborating with disparate teams (engineering, product, legal, marketing, and more) and bringing all of their insights to your design.
  • Ability to learn - We know you don't know everything, we don't expect you to, but we do want to know you can pick up complex concepts quickly and incorporate them into your designs.
  • Ability to mentor - You may be the expert in your field, but we don't want you to carry all the responsibility. We want to know you can share the knowledge and upskill your wider team.

What we'd love to see

  • Familiarity with multiple research techniques to gather qualitative and quantitative data (usability testing, card sorting, A/B testing, etc).
  • Familiarity with fintech, banking and/or financial services (preferably from Sweden).
  • Familiarity with motion and animation design (from a product design point of view).
