Polygon Digital Solutions is a service line within Polygon Group responsible for development, sales, and delivery of tech-based proactive solutions for insurance, managed property, and construction. The solutions combine IoT and data analysis to monitor conditions in buildings and construction environments to reduce the risk of property damage to save health, environment, and costs. The team is currently 35 people and based in Stockholm, Sweden and Worcester, UK.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer, based in Stockholm to join the dynamic development team of about 10 engineers based in Stockholm, Sweden and Worcester, UK. The team operates as part of a product-focused group, collaborating closely with a dedicated Test Engineer and Product Manager to deliver high-quality web and mobile applications.

The role:

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will work closely with the Tech Lead on a day-to-day basis. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of the IoT platform, with focus on the web platform and mobile apps for iOS and Android. You will play a key role in mentoring team members, improving development practices, and shaping the future of Polygon Digital Solutions technology.

The stack includes React, Next.js, and React Native for application development, with infrastructure powered by AWS (including early-stage use of AWS IoT Core), Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes. They also leverage Kafka, TimescaleDB, and Redis for backend systems.
Additionally, the devices use a range of connectivity types, including WiFi, cellular, and LoRa.

Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, and deploy scalable web and mobile applications using React, Next.js, and React Native.
  2. Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring maintainable and efficient code across platforms.
  3. Manage and optimize infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  4. Support and enhance backend systems leveraging Kafka, TimescaleDB, and Redis.
  5. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvements.
Your profile:

We are looking for you, who have +10 years' experience of software development, with a strong focus on React, Next.js, and React Native. You also have hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and services. Familiarity with AWS IoT Core is a plus.
While direct experience in IoT systems, AWS IoT Core, and connected devices is not essential, it is highly desirable.

Strong communication skills and exposure to 'true' Agile practices are essential for this role. Ideally, you will actively participate in, and even help facilitate, Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and stand-ups. A collaborative mindset and ability to interact effectively with stakeholders will also be key to success. Fluent English, both written and spoken is a must.
