We are looking for a Qualification Engineer who loves working in the lab. Are you the one we are looking for?
IntroductionSmartoptics provides innovative optical network solutions and devices for the new era of open networks, with a customer base including enterprises and public authorities, cloud providers, internet exchanges, as well as cable and telecom operators.
About the RoleAs a Qualification Engineer, you will work with the products in our portfolio that we don't develop in-house. Together with leading suppliers in the field, we specify the products, often optical filters or transceivers. This role involves participating in setting requirements, specifying, and qualifying prototypes in the lab, which includes direct contact with suppliers. The role involves one or two trips per year worldwide, each lasting about a week.
You will work both in the office and in a lab environment. A qualification process involves working with various instruments, temperature chambers, evaluation boards, our hardware platform Smartboard, and other hardware commonly found in the lab. This is a role focused on quality assurance, which includes investigations, documentation, and report writing.
About YouTo take on the role of Qualification Engineer, you need to have a few years of experience so you can work independently. As a person, you should have good communication skills, an eye for both detail and the bigger picture, strong self-motivation, and a genuine interest in learning more.
You should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering Physics, Optics, or another hardware-oriented engineering field.
You should have experience in the following areas:
- Working in a lab environment with instruments
- Python programming

To succeed in this role, you need self-drive and engagement. You should be curious and fearless. Proficiency in English is required, and since we speak Swedish in the office, a willingness to learn Swedish is necessary if you don't already speak it.
