About MITC

Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center (MITC) is a unique collaboration platform where academia and industry come together to drive innovation in production. Based in Eskilstuna, our dynamic tech center brings together engineers, students, researchers, and leading manufacturing companies to co-create tomorrow's technologies — from robotics to AI and sustainable automation.

MITC is jointly funded by the manufacturing industry and Mälardalen University.

The Role

We're looking for someone to lead the development of our strategic partnerships (e.g., Volvo, Alfa Laval, Seco Tools) and set the direction for our test and demo facilities — including our demo production system.

You will:

  • Drive long-term collaboration with industry partners in line with their technology roadmaps.
  • Identify, plan, and lead joint R&D projects with our engineering teams (AI/Data/Simulation and Production/Robotics).
  • Coordinate the development of our testbed, including OT/IT infrastructure and technical environments for showcasing and validating new technologies.
  • Work with external enablers such as ABB and Robotdalen.
  • Support the strategic direction of publicly funded innovation projects (e.g., Vinnova, EU, Tillväxtverket) focused on SMEs.
  • Contribute to research collaboration in areas like Industry 5.0 and the human-technology interface.

You won't manage people directly, but you'll be a central strategic player in MITC's future — shaping both our partnerships and technical environment.

What You Bring

  • Experience in production development and smart manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of operational technologies (e.g., automation, robotics) and how they integrate with IT/Industry 4.0.
  • Experience working in test, demo, or lab environments.
  • Ability to scope and lead collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on attitude.
  • Experience with innovation funding (Vinnova, EU, etc.) is a plus.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English.
  • Master's degree or higher in engineering.
