We are looking for an ambitious Software engineer with expertise in TypeScript to join our team and help us accelerate our growth. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in similar roles and is excited to take on new challenges. You will be well-versed in web technologies such as Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL, and have a knack for developing reliable and high-performance solutions.

As one of the first to join Abacube, you will have the chance to be part of the formative stages of the company. What you'll do (responsibilities)

Are you ready to take on a challenge? We're looking for an experienced individual contributor who loves to work with other engineers to rapidly craft and evolve our platforms. Your contributions will cover the entire stack, including:

  1. Refining our frontend clients - Develop new features for our clients with React, TypeScript, styled-components, and SWR.
  2. Taking charge of the backend - Design and construct back-end services and APIs in Node and Strapi using TypeScript and PostgreSQL. You'll get to make critical decisions and lay the foundations as we develop our stack.
  3. Leading your work and co-owning the product - You're a technical entrepreneur type and will have freedom and accountability. You'll be an active part of forming the roadmap and will own Abacube's technical needs.
What we're looking for (qualifications)

You've been there before and know how to navigate the complexities of a startup environment. We don't expect you to come in with all the credentials of a seasoned professional, we do however think you are eager to learn and excited to take on new challenges. There are a couple of qualifications we think you meet:

  1. We believe in experience - a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and 1-3 years of work experience in software development. Previous experience in a startup environment is a huge plus.
  2. Is highly productive while producing quality code - You have the ability to push out features quickly, efficiently, and without compromising on quality. You understand when something needs a quick fix and when it needs a more robust solution.
  3. Is a curious and quick learner - You don't need to know all the technologies we use, but you must be able to learn quickly and take ownership of various projects.
  4. Has design sensibility - Working alongside designers and other engineers, you have an eye for good UX and are able to spot when something is out of place. You have a knack for making things look polished.
  5. Has attention to detail while pragmatic - We value code accuracy, git cleanliness, and clear communication, all while never losing sight of the bigger picture. We strive for solutions, not egos.
