About the role:
Prime Finance (PF) is responsible for all financing related activities within Equities. We are a global team and consist of some 30 people in North America and Europe. We provide various financing solutions to our clients. PF trades with Hedge funds, Nordic institutions, corporations, investment banks and pension firms. The Equity Finance team sits within the heart of PF providing support to our client teams through sourcing, flow trading, financing and funding. As a Junior Trader, you will begin working within the Flow group, mainly covering stock lending and borrowing. After initial training, you will be assigned markets and clients to cover, with responsibility for sourcing, pricing, and book optimisation (with the support of experienced senior traders). Together with senior traders, you will manage the trading books, including P/L monitoring, risk management, and trade booking. The Equity Finance desk maintains close relationships with other front office desks across Equities and FICC, as well as support functions such as Operations, Risk Control, CMU, and Finance.
To thrive in this role, we believe you have:
- Developed social and analytical skills with a good commercial instinct and have an ability with numbers (even if it may not have been your academic degree). Automating the way we work and improving our operational processes will be key to the role.
- Great team player spirit – someone people can rely on, as well as being organised and detail oriented which is important in this role given that you will be working on a product with many different moving parts.
- An important part of our work involves communication both locally and internationally, so fluency in Swedish and English is required, knowledge in other languages would also be advantageous (but not a pre-requisite) given our global client base. An ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders is very important in this role.
- Degrees that would be more advantageous would be in Business, Finance or Mathematics related disciplines, although computer/data science and degrees in other disciplines where you can show good application to this role would be happily considered. In addition to an outstanding academic track record, you should have a good understanding and interest in financial markets and in particular the equity markets.
- Coding, data analytics and presentation skills can also be useful in this role.
