Description

The Insurance Risk Manager shall be responsible for the efficient management of the insurance risk management function in Europe and its cluster countries. Assignment includes responsibility for all local Product Groups reporting units, including subsidiaries, affiliated and joint venture companies, if any and support Country Treasurers / respective global or local Work Stream, Broker and Head of Insurance Risk management.

Summary

  1. Manage insurable risks in a manner which protects PG and its shareholders from catastrophic loss and minimizes the total cost of risk.
  2. Act as an extension of Group Function Group Treasury - Insurance Risk Management (GF-GTI), centralize the purchase of all local insurances, and ensure full participation of all local PG reporting units in PG's global and local insurance plans.
  3. Improve local PG's risk profile to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses to "best-in-class" levels. Alert country management of major existing/potential risk trends.
  4. Establish and maintain close cooperation with local Divisions, BU's other Group Functions and the Broker.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Support creation of a Global Insurance Risk Management Portal.
  2. Manage surety bond relationships with Broker, Insurers and in coordination with Export and Trade Finance – Guarantee Management.
  3. Review and monitor insurance needs in the countries by establishing key contact persons in the Business and/or Finance and ensuring the country requirements are properly covered.
  4. Ensure adherence to the global Directives & Instructions and compliance with all compulsory insurance requirements locally.
  5. Actively support the Business and the Legal Department with tenders and Risk Review-process.
  6. Integrate or align the local risk control efforts with those of the PG Group worldwide through active liaison with GF-GTI.
  7. Design and implement systems for the distribution of insurance premiums in a manner which provides financial incentives to better control risk.
  8. Prepare and conduct insurance risk management seminars with the local business organization and other local Group Functions.
  9. Provide input on insurance risks in M&A due diligence work.
  10. Manage departmental operating budget, maintain local manuals that are in addition to GF's manual.

Broker Management

  1. Responsible for establishment and active management of insurance broker(s) in all countries in your region.
  2. Develop and implement procedures manual for brokers in each country.
  3. Ensure compliance of contractual clauses with the Broker and with the Legal function.
  4. Manage local policy placement and renewals with the Broker, coverage adequacy, premium and tax payments.
  5. Direct brokers to establish necessary local insurance programs and self-insurance funds/accounts.
  6. Establish contracts with third party administrators for claim management.
  7. Support critical cases of incidents and claims management in the various countries.
  8. Initiate issuance of specific insurance certificates.

Qualifications

  1. Ideally, a minimum of 10 years insurance risk management experience is required.
  2. University Degree (Bachelor or Master) of: Law, Economics, Engineering, or another adequate subject.
  3. Strong inter-personal skills and sound judgment.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (also in English).
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  6. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft office suite applications.
  7. Willingness to travel on monthly basis.
  8. Work Permit.
