This position is based in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. A Day in the Life:

As a mechanical engineer in product development projects and product and process care activities, you will develop hardware requirements and solutions for new products while refining designs for legacy products through coordination and implementing improvements.

You will work in a small team responsible for consumables used in allergy testing equipment. The work will include traditional mechanical engineering tasks from concept to fully verified and validated products in close collaboration with instrument developers and production engineers. Work shall mainly be conducted on-site in Uppsala.

Keys to Success:

As a person, it's important that you are curious, self-driven, and communicative. You will interact with many team members both internally at Thermo Fisher and with suppliers/partners globally.

Education:

Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical subject.

Experience:

  1. Experience in the development of injection molded parts.
  2. Experience in developing serially produced products.
  3. Understanding of complex product requirements.
  4. Experience in development based on data-driven decisions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Skilled in 3D-CAD, preferably surface modeling (Creo).
  2. Experience in life sciences.
  3. Ability to contribute to planning activities.
  4. Ability to work independently, taking ownership of processes, projects, and timelines.
  5. Ability to communicate and report to lead designers and team members.
  6. Knowledge and experience within Six Sigma.
  7. Ability to work across departments in a matrix organization.
  8. Strong self-leadership and presentation skills.
  9. Result-driven and team-oriented with the ability to influence outcomes as necessary.
  10. Good organizational and time management skills to lead multiple ongoing business activities simultaneously.
