Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team for a high-impact assignment in the banking industry, supporting Group Financial Crime Prevention (GFCP). This role involves managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability, security, and operational efficiency in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows; handle upgrades and migrations.
  2. Performance Tuning: Monitor and resolve bottlenecks; optimize queries and schema design.
  3. Backup & Recovery: Manage strategies, ensure RPO/RTO compliance.
  4. Security Management: Implement and audit security, conduct vulnerability assessments.
  5. Automation: Create scripts for automation using Bash, Python, or equivalent; integrate CI/CD.
  6. Operational Support: Proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and documenting best practices.
  7. Collaboration: Support development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.
    • Proven expertise in managing large-scale PostgreSQL environments with replication, clustering, and partitioning.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, extensions, and tools.
    • Expertise in SQL query optimization and debugging.
    • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, shell scripting, and troubleshooting.
    • Familiarity with tools like Grafana and pgAdmin.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Fluent in English (proficient level).
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • PostgreSQL CE or equivalent certifications.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Advanced understanding of database performance tuning, security best practices, and operational processes.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools and CI/CD integration for database management.
