The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Natural Resources Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is seeking a Senior Lecturer with expertise in cementitious materials research, including self-healing and nuclear shielding concrete, biobased cementitious materials, and 3D concrete printing, and in teaching concrete and building materials properties including building physics aspects. Subject description

Building Materials includes sustainable building materials and their application technologies, recycling and reuse, and applied building physics, especially focusing on the Arctic conditions.

Duties

Supervision and co-supervision of master's and doctoral students, research, teaching, and application for funding research projects.

Qualifications

To meet the requirements for the appointment as a senior lecturer, the applicants:

  1. must have been awarded a doctoral degree or must have the corresponding academic competence or other professional expertise that is valuable for the appointment.
  2. must demonstrate pedagogical expertise by means of proven experience, teaching expertise and teaching development.
  3. must have completed higher education pedagogy courses equivalent to 7.5 higher education credits or otherwise have acquired equivalent knowledge.

  2. teaching expertise
  3. other assessment criteria

Other assessment criteria (weighted equally):

  1. Applicants must have a PhD in Building Materials.
  2. Candidates should have experience developing methods and tools for analyzing multifunctional concrete properties, including self-healing, electrical conductivity, and electromagnetic/nuclear shielding.
  3. Experience with biomass-derived cementitious materials and knowledge of 3D concrete printing is also required. In addition, knowledge of image analysis and material characterization using advanced experimental methods is an advantage.
  4. Candidates should have experience teaching building materials, with an emphasis on building physics aspects such as heat and moisture transfer. Proficiency with digital teaching tools is required, along with demonstrable expertise in designing and delivering practical laboratory activities in concrete.
  5. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record in securing research funding from Swedish funding bodies, organizing academic conferences and workshops with diverse stakeholders, and disseminating scientific findings through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, social media, and websites.
