IO Interactive is an independent video game development and publishing company with studios in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona, Brighton and Istanbul. As the creative force behind some of the most talked-about multiplatform video games in the last decade, we are dedicated to creating unforgettable characters and experiences – all powered by our award-winning proprietary Glacier technology.

IO Interactive is looking for a talented Lead Technical Producer to join our Backbone team, the core programming team that powers our ambitious game projects. We are currently working on Project 007, a brand-new James Bond video game featuring an original Bond story, and Project Fantasy, a groundbreaking online fantasy RPG for console and PC. Both projects are built on Glacier, our state-of-the-art proprietary game engine.

As a Lead Technical Producer, you will oversee a team of producers, each responsible for leading cross-disciplinary teams alongside a Technical Lead and a Product Owner. You will drive production strategy and execution for technical initiatives, ensuring smooth workflows, aligned priorities, and successful project delivery.

Working closely with the Executive Technical Producer, Technical Director, and Product Manager, you will play a key role in balancing scope, quality, and efficiency across multiple teams while optimizing production processes and risk management strategies.

What you will do:
  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Producers, ensuring they have the support, guidance, and tools to drive their respective teams effectively.
  • Oversee production strategy and execution for technical initiatives, aligning with company goals and product roadmaps.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between technical, production, and product leadership to optimize cross-functional collaboration.
  • Improve processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency, risk mitigation, and technical excellence.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring teams remain on track while maintaining performance and quality standards.
  • Track memory budgets and performance at all stages of development.
  • Manage, coordinate, and validate builds and branches, ensuring alignment with game timelines and milestones.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer and leadership to define long-term production strategies and scalability plans.
  • Participate in recruitment and performance reviews for technical team members.
Who you are:
  • Proven experience in technical production, project management, or leadership roles within game development or technology-driven projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methods, tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), and software defect tracking.
  • Deep understanding of game development pipelines, live service workflows, and/or technical platform development.
  • Experience managing and mentoring production teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and risk management skills, able to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder across multiple stakeholders and leadership levels.
  • Familiarity with software development practices, system integration, and version control systems (Perforce, Git, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, and conflict resolution skills.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with game engines or large-scale technical development.
  • Background in software engineering.
  • Experience in organizational change, process improvement, or scaling teams.
