The task of IKEA Components within IKEA is to pursue the development of future unique and customer-friendly solutions within fittings and components to the IKEA range, as well as support our Retail partners with equipment for their smooth and efficient operation. IKEA Components is part of the Inter IKEA group and shares the IKEA vision and values. Our business is global and employs people based in Sweden, Slovakia, China, and at IKEA Purchasing and Logistic areas; we are also represented at several other sites around the world.

Category Retail Equipment is a category based on 7 different segments across several material commodities with a range ownership connection to Range Concept and developed through an assignment given to IKEA Components.

The main receiver of Retail Equipment business is the expansion customer meeting point and the re-furnish of existing ones.

What you will do

We are looking for a Product Engineer to lead the development and implementation of new products, the moves of products from one supplier to another, and the improvement of existing products based on product documentation, quality performances, and customer expectations. Ensure the suppliers meet the requirements and tolerances required, secure quality and compliance to all requirements. You will be working with strategic suppliers, producing equipment for our Retail partners across a variety of raw materials. You will be located in IKEA Components office, Älmhult, Sweden.

As a Product Engineer, you will be working with Product Development News, Moves, Improves. In detail that means:

  1. Lead from a Category perspective and secure scalability for further implementation at other suppliers.
  2. Communicate changes and progress to relevant parties.
  3. Lead Product and Production risk assessments.
  4. Assess and improve supplier's development capabilities.
  5. Ensure clear product documentation with CTQs.
  6. Approve product and packaging tests before progressing to the next phase.
  7. Support Production Engineer during startup.
  8. Keep together all the news and communicate project status in an effective and clear way.

Product Engineers also ensure that product and supplier meet all Quality Compliance requirements and participate in the development of specs, including IOS MAT.

About you

You have the capability to keep total project portfolio and see synergies in news development for optimization of time and resources. You know and have experience with production processes and technologies, including lean manufacturing tools. You understand democratic design and customer needs and expectations regarding function, customer friendliness, and products critical to quality (CTQ).

You have good knowledge of materials' properties and construction and its impact on cost and sustainability. You are comfortable evaluating the suppliers' technical and quality performance to produce products, genuinely interested in understanding the reality of production and continuous improvements.

You have the ability to make decisions and solve problems with a holistic view. You have high energy in a self-driven way of working to deliver better products for the many people by working together with the suppliers and co-workers in IKEA Components. You are effective in communication and able to communicate complex topics in a simple way across a variety of stakeholders.
