We are looking for a highly motivated individual to accelerate our vehicle-level testing for all current and future Autopilot features on the path to full self-driving. The Autopilot Test Operator will be responsible for identifying improvements and regressions across software iterations. A strong candidate will be objective when making judgements, highly organized with great attention to detail, and a self-starter. This role could require the flexibility of traveling to domestic and international destinations as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks and proving grounds.

What You'll Do

  1. Survey the local region and design routes/scenarios for Autopilot testing.
  2. Design test specs and create judgment criteria using tools such as XRAY.
  3. Study and become familiar with the latest Autopilot version and other relevant vehicle features.
  4. Execute real-world testing according to test specifications and provide ad-hoc support for specifically requested scenarios.
  5. Analyze test data, triage software issues, and identify abnormal vehicle behaviors using Tesla in-house designed proprietary software tools.
  6. Communicate with developers and test engineers. Be available on-call for questions or comments as needed.
  7. Maintain and document test vehicle condition, and coordinate repairs/retrofits as necessary.
  8. Support any other vehicle engineering testing as needed.

What You'll Bring

  1. Clean driving record, safe driving habits, and strong navigation skills.
  2. Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  3. Fluency in English.
  4. Computer software skills, particularly MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and operating systems such as macOS, Windows, Linux.
  5. Command Line Interface experience required.
  6. Familiarity with ADAS/Autopilot systems and their sensors as well as knowledge of vehicle systems such as brakes and assisted steering.
  7. Must be comfortable driving prototype vehicles during testing that may lack safety features.
  8. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
