As an Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for Northvolt's power plant in Skellefteå. The work includes the power plant and control system systems used in power plants for electricity distribution and industrial operations. If necessary, you may assume a leadership role for minor improvement work within your technical area that reduces the burden on the environment and economy.
You will lead root cause analyses and support the rest of the electrical team in organising electrical maintenance activities necessary for the site's continuous operation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Carry out selectivity plans, short-circuit calculations, and relay protection calculations, and implement these in the plant.
  • Troubleshoot the power system and assist colleagues in implementing necessary measures.
  • Plan maintenance activities.
  • Work on creating routines and instructions within the technical area.
  • Ensure that necessary spare parts are available and perform LCA.
  • Work on long-term planning and development of future investment needs.
  • Investigate, analyse and evaluate various technical solutions within the electric power area.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of new plant parts within the technical area.
  • Approve relationship documents from suppliers in connection with the handover of equipment.
  • Train personnel in the electric power system.
  • Be Northvolt's representative at FAT/SAT for new electrical equipment within the area of responsibility.
  • Be a resource in designing expansions of existing and new facilities.
  • Be a team player with the rest of the team to develop and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Emergency preparedness is included in the service.

We believe that you have:

  • Post-secondary electrical engineering education or equivalent work experience in power plants 0.4kV-150kV.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Very good IT and computer skills and the office package.
  • Experience in electrical power plants, reading diagrams, configuring relay protection, remote control and control equipment.
  • Experience designing electrical power systems to meet high availability and ease of access from an operation and maintenance perspective.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in electrical power in industry or similar.
  • Experience in low, medium and high voltage in switchgear, motor drives, drive systems and electrical construction.
  • If you have several years of practical experience in electrical power plants, this is an advantage.

Specific skills:

  • Experience with load calculation and simulation programs such as ETAP, SKM Powertools, Dlgsilent, ERACS, EDSA, Neplan, etc.
  • Good knowledge of calculating cables, transformers, FRO, selectivity, short circuits, etc.
  • Experience with network analysis and harmonic calculations – e.g. Dranetz, Fluke, Flir, etc.
  • Knowledge of equipment for phase compensation, harmonic filtering, power quality analysers, testing of transformers.
