About the position

We are seeking a Civil Technical Project Manager with a strong background in heavy industry and CAPEX construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for technical project management and strategic technical planning of civil and structural scope to ensure successful project execution, meeting SSAB's expectations and timelines. While this role does not include personnel responsibility, you will be part of a team of five Technical Project Managers (TPMs), each responsible for a specific construction area. You will collaborate closely with suppliers and key stakeholders to drive projects forward.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil and structural aspects of CAPEX projects, ensuring alignment with SSAB's strategic goals.
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications, project timelines, and cost objectives.
  • Oversee and take responsibility for the civil and structural scope of a specific construction area, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with the overall project.
  • Coordinate with Plant Unit Managers and Construction Managers to integrate technical work efficiently.
  • Oversee supplier and contractor work, ensuring high-quality and timely project execution.
  • Manage risks, ensure quality assurance, and document technical work accurately.
  • Support procurement with technical input during contract negotiations.
  • Monitor project progress, report status updates, and implement necessary adjustments to meet deadlines.

About You

  • At least 10 years of experience in technical project management within the field of civil and structural engineering on heavy industry and CAPEX projects.
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, project management, or a related technical field.
  • Proven technical project management experience, ideally within industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, with a formal certification being a plus.
  • Experience in managing the civil and structural discipline in execution projects.
  • Ability to drive projects forward while maintaining cost control and strategic planning.
  • Positive person with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Swedish or Finnish language skills are highly meritorious.
