If the answer is yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you as an R&D Engineer in the E-mobility & Energy Systems department.

The Role

Our E-mobility and Smart Energy Solutions teams within the Data Analytics & ICT Solutions department at Vattenfall R&D have a successful track record in designing, modeling, testing, and implementing charging infrastructure and energy storage solutions. We specialize in enhancing their performance through the integration of new algorithms, improving services, extending lifespan, and potentially reducing the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCoE) for these assets. Furthermore, our teams focus on creating compelling business cases and optimizing market operations to enhance our overall solution offerings in collaboration with internal partners. These teams foster a strong team spirit and consist of four to six dedicated individuals.

As an R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in reinforcing our teams and department. Your tasks will include:

  • Conducting sophisticated analyses and modeling to assess the feasibility of e-mobility and renewable energy in various scenarios
  • Proposing appropriate solutions that meet business needs while ensuring compliance standards, robustness, resilience, and high quality
  • Working closely with business specialists to develop solutions
  • Performing initial business case analyses for new solutions and architectures
  • Collaborating with research partners, academic institutions, and stakeholders to drive research and development in e-mobility and sustainable energy technology
  • Leading initiatives focused on advancing e-mobility and sustainable energy, aiming to explore and promote cutting-edge technologies and solutions
  • Sharing project insights and contributing to conferences and seminars to disseminate knowledge and foster technological advancement in the energy sector
Qualifications

Your Background

  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Hold a Master's degree or higher in Sustainable Energy Systems, Industrial Economics, Electrical Engineering, Data Engineering, or related fields
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and a willingness to apply them in a new context
  • Interest and background in renewable energy systems
  • Basic programming skills, especially in Python or C, for tasks like data analysis, visualization, and optimization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in communication and presentation

Preferred knowledge in:

  • Energy markets
  • Matlab/Simulink platforms
  • Business background (beneficial but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in Swedish (advantageous but not mandatory)
