As a developer in the Product team you will experience this first hand, every day. We don't believe in micro-management (heck, we barely believe in management) or control. We believe in alignment and autonomy. In working together towards meaningful goals and empowering everyone in the team to make the decisions on how to get there.

We've been using the Shape Up methodology for many years now to help us support that. We work in small teams of 3 — two full stack developers and one designer — that collaborate closely during a six week cycle to design, build, and ship the best possible solution to a project. A project that has a clear goal, a rich context, and helpful constraints. You can read more about the details in our post Building Teamtailor — How We Work in the Product Team. After the cycle we have a two week cooldown period split into two parts: Innovation Week, where we shift focus from shipping to collaborating on experiments. The goal is to try new ideas together to learn and have fun. Then, Improvement Week, where we tackle lots of different improvements in our user interface, codebase, and tools. Small things that together have a big impact. Then we are ready for the next cycle to begin.

We are close to 50 people in the Product team, distributed across Sweden, Poland, Turkey, Spain, and Portugal. An incredible group of caring and competent colleagues. We work in a hybrid remote fashion, where everyone is free to work from wherever they want but we believe in hiring in clusters. That way people can easily meet up when they want. To work closely together in-person or just have fun. We also invest heavily in this with our Workaway concept, where everyone on the team has a budget for self-organized team trips. Over the past year team members have met up in places like Istanbul, Kraków, Ericeira, Amsterdam, Mallorca, and Stockholm. Our recruitment process
  1. Submit your application and answer some basic questions. No cover letter or CV required
  2. Two short online assessments — for personality and logical ability — to help us be more objective and reduce biases
  3. A short interview with the hiring manager. That's me, CJ
  4. Take home code assignment, where you'll spend about 3 hours implementing a feature
  5. Interview with two developers on the team, where you'll discuss code you've written and how we work
  6. Offer to join the team, if we think we are a match for each-other
