We are hiring for a Senior Lighting Artist to support both PAYDAY 3 and Project Baxter, currently in pre-production. You will be responsible for the creation, development, planning and prioritisation of our in-game lighting. You will be working in Unreal Engine 5, utilising Lumen, Nanite and other new technologies. As a Senior member of the art team, you will also be responsible for supporting the learning and development of less experienced colleagues.

You have experience working as a Lighting Artist within the games industry. You have a proven and strong artistic skill set, a good sense of light, colors, and materials. You are a hands-on person and the role requires you to be able to multi-task and possess good communication skills both spoken and written.

Project Baxter is a 4 player cooperative action game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Inspired by our love of tabletop RPGs and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, we will embrace cutting edge technology to create entertaining and emergent gameplay scenarios.

This role is open to applications onsite in Stockholm, or remote in Europe.

Responsibilities:

Creating and implementing in-game lighting and pushing it beyond the industry standards, using Unreal Engine 5 and utilising Lumen and Nanite; Follow references, concepts, and art direction while also having the initiative to take the work further independently; Working closely with the Art and Tech teams to ensure that quality is consistent and cohesive; Working together with producers, leads, directors and other teams to push the quality and creativity of the project; Updating work and backlog using project management and planning tools (e.g. JIRA); Mentoring, guiding and contributing to the learning and development of less experienced colleagues.

Requirements:

Experience working in real-time lighting workflows using a combination of baked and real-time lighting models; Relevant portfolio demonstrating lighting created by you in a PBR pipeline, clearly showing the shipped game examples of your work; Ability to find solutions to lighting problems at more complex levels; Great understanding of performance and cost of lighting; Ability to mentor other artists and provide meaningful feedback.

Nice to have:

Experience shipping multiple AAA games as a Lighting Artist; Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5; An interest in a variety of different game genres.
