This position is for a permanent contract.What will you be doing?As a Workshop Engineer at Wärtsilä's Workshop in Gothenburg, your responsibilities will include repairing and overhauling Wärtsila engine equipment, conducting measurements, preventive maintenance, tool upkeep, and ensuring work adherence to Wärtsilä's quality and safety standards. Additionally, you will assist in identifying parts and tools requirements for timely availability.As an ideal candidate, you should grasp the mechanical fundamentals of large 4-stroke engines, possess experience with various tools like valve grinding machines, and be proficient in English and Swedish to excel in a multicultural setting. Above all, a passion for work, continuous learning, and professional development are crucial.Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing repairs and overhauls on engine equipment and components as per instructions and guidelines.
  • Conducting measurements and recording data following specified procedures.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance on workshop machinery.
  • Maintaining workshop tools and equipment.
  • Identifying required parts through parts catalogue.
  • Ensuring a clean and organized work area.
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge and skills.
The following will help you succeed in this role:
  • BSc degree with a minimum of 2 years' experience or AS degree with at least 3 years' experience; alternatively, High School diploma or Technical/Vocational school diploma with 5 years' experience.
  • Solid grasp of large 4-stroke engine mechanics.
  • Experience handling tools like valve grinding machines, honing machines, etc.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Capacity to follow instructions, work under pressure, and make prompt decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a drive for professional growth.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish.
